"I have eaten at the Chequers a couple of times since you guys have taken over. On both occasions food was fine, in fact was better than fine. Looking at the whole experience of dining room, décor, staff, service and food all in all it was very good. I look at what I'm paying and what's on my plate and I think you guys do a great job. Just hope your making money. Price wise is certainly not expensive. From a punters point of view very good value for money indeed. I spend 15 quid I expect a decent slice of Ham a couple of half well fried eggs and a handful of chips. Spend 50 quid I expect a bit more. Start looking at the likes of a couple of hundred notes and I expect to see something pretty serious. As we all know mostly this is not the case. How much you spend I find is mostly of no influence as to the quality of what you will get on your plate. That's what it's all about what's on the plate. What am I paying what am I getting on my plate. Won't bore anyone by going through what we ate dish by dish does not really matter. Whole experience and value for money Excellent. Simple as that. I'm guessing one or two of the other local eating houses might be wise to sit up and take a bit of notice!

Also stayed this time in one of the rooms. 85 quid, great value, clean tidy modern new….85quid very good value for money, very good indeed. Over the years spent a bloody fortune on fine dining (It's my hobby as well as my business) Ritz, Dorchester, Claridges, Gavroche, Raymond Blancs place Oxford, Fat Duck, Paul Bocuse Lyon a few of the Ramsey restaurants (and many many more) and mostly bitterly disappointed. Very average food and vastly overpriced. I might mention dining at Harvey's a good number of years ago was a class experience."
